Mount Baker volleyball sweeps Sedro-Woolley 3-0

The Mount Baker volleyball team opened its Northwest Conference schedule with a 25-14, 25-19, 26-24 win over Sedro-Woolley Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Mount Baker High School.

The Mountaineers withstood a late third-set rally, but Maddy Tanis, who led Baker with 12 kills, sealed the victory with back-to-back winners.

Emily Yost chipped in 19 assists, and Sara Verry added 16 digs in what coach Paige Huttula billed a team effort.

“I was very pleased with their performance,” Huttula said in a phone interview. “They really showed up ready to play and played with fire consistently the whole match, which is exciting to see.”

Mount Baker (1-2, 1-0 NWC) travels to face Sehome next at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25.
