The Sehome girls’ swimming team opened up its dual-meet season with a 145-36 win over Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.
Alia Malella highlighted the meet with a 500 freestyle win, pacing the field with a state-qualifying time of 5 minutes, 45.13 seconds. She also recorded wins as a part of the 200 individual medley, 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.
“Our relays were strong,” Sehome coach Don Helling said in a phone interview. “We had some strong swims.”
Gwen Roley (200 IM, 100 butterfly), Hannah Holmgren (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) and Megan Mundell (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke) each had two individual wins, with Sophie Grambo rounding out the group with a win in the 50 freestyle. Rebekah Miksovsky won the diving portion of the meet with a score of 98.25.

“Our divers did very well,” Helling said. “All brand new underclassmen, and they were strong as well.”
Sehome competes in the Northwest Conference Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes.
