Ferndale’s volleyball team held off a surge from Anacortes to take a 25-19, 25-22, 25-12 win in a Northwest Conference match on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Ferndale.
Taryn Potter led the Golden Eagles with nine kills and two blocks, and coach Patti Hoelzle praised her serve-receive. Whitney Walker added six aces.
“We got strong all-around play from middle Taryn Potter, who was our best passer on serve-receive,” Hoelzle said in a phone interview. “Our setter Abby Reid was instrumental in the game. She made good decisions on who to set to and where. Her leadership has helped so far this season.”
Hoelzle said the team’s tough non-conference matches helped prepare it for the NWC portion of its schedule. Ferndale will get a tough test against Lynden Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Lynden Christian.
