Lions struggle in opening meet

Lynden’s girls’ swim team let nerves get to them in a 115-55 loss to Anacortes on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Lynden YMCA.

“That was the first meet,” Lynden coach Linda Bode said in a phone interview. “We have to settle down, get the nerves out. We have a lot of new girls and Anacortes came in rearing to go.”

Gadyn Elias was Lynden’s lone winner, as her 29.06-second 50 freestyle gave her the victory.

“Gadyn Elias swam fairly well today, as well as Shelby Deward,” Bode said. “They had good swims.”

Lynden will swim against Archbishop Murphy on Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Lynden YMCA.
