Outlook: The Lyncs, who are led by lone state-returning runner Wiley, have a strong mix of returners and newcomers with 12 total runners, including four freshman. But while Wiley is the only runner on the Lyncs with state experience, at least a couple of runners have impressed Postma with their offseason work. Lingbloom, who was running well last year before an illness halted his season, is expected to be a major contributor. “He’s been putting in a lot of summer miles and has a good condition base,” Postma said in a phone interview. VanderGriend is another runner who’s caught Postma’s attention, and freshman Steiger is another one who’s been sticking with LC’s top runners during workouts. The Lyncs have a strong top four or five, but to reach state, Postma said the team will need a few other runners to elevate their performances before season’s end.
