Sehome’s volleyball team’s season got underway with a 21-25, 25-12, 25-13, 25-14 win on Tuesday night, Sept. 9, at Sehome High School.
The Mariners lost the first set 25-21, but came roaring back with three commanding set wins.
“We started off really slow, missed way too many serves and made a lot of unforced errors,” Sehome (1-0) coach Kristy White said in a phone interview. “We talked about what does Sehome volleyball look like and they passed better, played better and put the ball away.”
Emily Greer impressed White with her 11 kills and 4 aces while Dani Johnson recorded 15 kills and Megan Greer and Natalie Knops combined for 46 digs. No stats were provided for Squalicum (0-1).

Sehome plays Lynden on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Lynden High School. Squalicum faces La Conner at home on Thursday.
