Coach: Kim Bjorklund
Last year: 7-7 overall, 5-7 NWC (ninth place). ... Bellingham failed to make the 2A district playoffs after finishing just outside the top four. ... Biggest win came against Lynden in straight sets on Sept. 18.
Players to watch: Summer Douglas (Jr., OH); Olivia Bjorklund (Sr., OH); Anna Zeegers (Sr., OH/MB).
Outlook: Bellingham returns power, and lots of it with Zeegers, Douglas and Olivia Bjorklund, all of whom will provide coach Kim Bjorklund some much-needed pop to contend in the NWC this season. “Summer, Anna and Olivia will be a real big hitting offensive weapon for us,” Kim said in a phone interview. She’s going to need those three to step up with the departure of seven seniors. This year’s varsity lineup consists of just three seniors and quite a bit of youth. “We have a chunk of sophomores that have filled their spots,” Kim said. “They are a very aggressive, competitive group.” Bellingham has failed to make the 2A district playoffs the past several seasons, missing barely in 2013, something Kim is hoping her team can finally overcome.
