Meadowdale used an effective offense and a shutdown defense to defeat the Squalicum boys’ soccer team 3-0 Saturday in a Class 3A Northwest District match at Edmonds Stadium.
The Storm had its season end with a record of 12-5, but Squalicum coach Joe McAuliffe said the team is looking forward to next season.
“We have a very young team, so we’re excited about next year,” McAuliffe said. “We’ll be even wiser and even stronger.”
The Mavericks scored on a free kick at the 34-minute mark of the first half, then added to their lead five minutes into the second half when one of their forwards scored on a breakaway. Meadowdale scored its final goal with seven minutes left, McAuliffe said.

“They were a good side,” said McAuliffe, who lauded the play of Connor Shipman, Brad Klees, Dimitri Polichronokis and Evan Burnhaver.
