The Sehome girls’ tennis team dropped the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches at Blaine on Friday but won everything else en route to a 5-2 Northwest Conference victory to end the regular season.
The match was a makeup from Monday when rain washed out competition.
Blaine’s No. 1 singles player Veronica Rooney defeated Sehome’s Christie Thompson 7-5, 6-4, and Sehome’s No. 1 doubles team of Anna Sather and Chloe Tull beat Blaine’s Sarah Feenstra and Bailey Richarson 6-4, 6-4.
“We weren’t properly warmed up,” Sehome coach Bonna Giller said in a phone interview. “It was a really tough win for us.”
Sehome improved to 9-2 in NWC and 13-3 overall, and Blaine dropped to 3-8 in conference and 4-11 overall.
