BELLINGHAM 2, FERNDALE 1 (SO) Bellingham’s Jimmy Lee scored the decisive goal in a shootout Saturday as the Red Raiders defeated Ferndale 2-1 in a non-league boys’ soccer match at Ferndale. After a scoreless first half, the Golden Eagles’ Michael Grimstead opened the scoring in the 50th minute, with assists by Ben Sowers and Sean Williams. Fourteen minutes later, Bellingham tied the match when Alex Paige scored from 15 yards away on a crossing pass from Kenny Schaumberg. The game remained tied 1-1 through the rest of regulation and overtime play. Ferndale went first in the shootout, but Bellingham goalkeeper Andrew Thoma made two saves and the Red Raiders made three shots to Ferndale’s two. David Lervik made six saves for Ferndale (1-2 overall), which plays at Blaine on Tuesday. Bellingham improved to 1-2.
