Blaine’s girls’ basketball team held a lead after one quarter, but Squalicum came back and didn’t let it get away in its’ 44-40 Northwest Conference win at home on Saturday.
“We came out kind of flat, so we had to make some changes and re-energize ourselves,” Squalicum coach Scott Wilson said in a phone interview. “We stuck with it and grinded it out. Our focus was to stay under control and we did that.”
Taylor Ulrich led the Storm with 12 points, all of which came on key 3-point baskets and Nicola Follis had seven points and 12 rebounds.
Wilson also said the bench play of Sara Prendergast and Julie Seldal were keys in the win. The two players combined for 10 points.
