The Squalicum boys’ swim team used a strong performance from its relay teams to grab a 117-68 win over Anacortes at Fidalgo Pool on Thursday.
“We wanted to focus on our relays and see how close we could get to a state time,” Squalicum coach Paul Hanson said in a phone interview.
The Storm finished first and second in every relay, which scored big points for the team and the combination of Thomas Abbot, Eddie Myers, Kyle Keller and Jordan Rawls won all three relays. The 200-yard medley team’s finish of 1 minute, 46.22 seconds was .52 seconds away from its qualifying goal and the 200 freestyle team finished .06 seconds shy of its mark.
Adam Opryszek won the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly for Squalicum.
