Sean Hagerty’s win at 215 pounds clinched a 28-21 Northwest Conference win for the Squalicum wrestling team over Ferndale at home on Thursday.
“It ended up to be a really close dual,” Squalicum coach Mark Parrish said in a phone interview. “It was a big win.”
The Storm was up by 10 points with two matches left heading into Hagerty’s bout and Ferndale could have won with two pins, but Hagerty edged Tyler Mustappa 7-6 and sealed the deal. Ferndale’s Brandon Lambert followed up with the match’s only pin of the night a 275 to make Hagerty’s win that much more vital.
“We really enjoy wrestling Ferndale because they always wrestle hard and they’re well coached,” Parrish said.

Parrish also pointed to Jordan Zender’s close 4-2 win at 119 and Andrew Murray’s 3-1 double-overtime win at 160 as keys to the team’s victory.
The win keeps Squalicum undefeated in the Northwest Conference at 5-0.
