Ferndale held Mount Baker to three field goals in the second half and the Golden Eagles went on to win 43-29 in Northwest Conference boys’ basketball action on Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles, who have won four games in a row, were up 24-18 before holding the Mountaineers to two points in the third quarter and nine points in the fourth quarter.
“Our second-half defense was the difference in the game,” Ferndale coach Scott Larrabee said in a phone interview.
Max Hannah was the only player to score in double figures with 14 points.
“Max did a really nice job, especially in transition,” Larrabee said. “He shot the ball well from the perimeter.”Taylor Pothier added nine points for Ferndale (6-3, 2-0 NWC).
Jesse Copps led Mount Baker with nine points.
