The Bellingham boys’ swim team split a pair of dual meets at the Skagit County YMCA Friday, beating Sedro-Woolley 80-57 and losing to Burlington-Edison 117-49.
The Tigers swept all events in their dual, with the exception of the 500 freestyle, which Ferndale’s Daniel Hsieh won in 5 minutes, 37.88 seconds.
The Red Raiders won all events but the 100 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay against Sedro-Woolley, as Bellingham (1-3, 1-2 NWC) won its first dual meet of the season.
Conor Wicknick and Donovan Brogan led the way, combining with Jon Anderson and Nick Luttrell to win the 200 medley relay in 2:08.83 and each winning a pair of individual events. Wicknick won the 200 freestyle in 2:04.62 and the 100 freestyle in 54.89 seconds, while Brogan won the 200 individual medley in 2:14.57 and the 100 backstroke in 1:04.26.

“I think we swam really well, especially considering the meet was right in the middle of vacation,” Bellingham coach Todd Edison said in a phone interview. “We’ve had good attendance over the vacation, and we showed some improvement. We’re excited for the second half of the season. We think we’re going to continue to improve.”
