PREP GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Lyncs race past Borderites

The Lyncs raced to a 25-6 after one quarter, increased the lead to 39-10 at halftime and coasted to the 60-25 Northwest Conference girls’ basketball win over the Borderites at Blaine on Friday.

“They easily shot over 50 percent from the field in the first half; it seemed like they couldn’t miss,” Blaine coach Jeremy Hinchey said. “They’re really very good.”

Brianne Ryan had a game-high 14 points and Jill Elgersma added 11 for Lynden Christian (9-0 overall, 3-0 NWC). Kristen Elsbree led the Borderites (3-7, 0-2) with seven points, but Blaine made just nine of 41 shots (21.9 percent) from the floor.

Blaine hosts Nooksack Valley on Tuesday.
