The Lynden boys’ swim team won all but one event on the way to a 113-57 Northwest Conference win over Anacortes on Friday in its final home meet of the year at the Lynden YMCA.
“We’re looking good,” Lynden coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview. “The kids are improving and that’s what we want, of course.”
Lynden had two swimmers with multiple individual wins. Aaron Korthuis won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle and also helped the 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams to victories. Randy Elsner won both the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly and swam on the same winning relay teams.
The Lions’ Eric Leone qualified for the district tournament in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 freestyle. He won the 100 with a time of 58.6 seconds and finished the 200 in 2:12.2. Jason Beck also qualified in the 50 freestyle with his time of 24.8 seconds.
