The Meridian boys’ basketball used big first and third quarters to cruise to a 55-38 win over Lynden Christian in Northwest Conference play at Lynden on Thursday.
“I just kind of thought it was an ugly game,” Meridian coach Shane Stacy said in a phone interview. “The first and third quarters we came out strong, but for the most part didn’t play the way we thought we could.”
Andrei Lintz scored a game-high 16 points for Meridian, Luke Schweigert scored 13 and Zack Slesk had nine points and five assists.
Stacy said he was impressed with the play of the Lynden Christian post players and also praised the play of Zack Block for the Lyncs.
“He did a great job for them all night,” Stacy said.
Block finished with the game’s only double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
