The Squalicum wrestling team got off to a fast start with four straight wins and never looked back on its way to a 40-24 win at Mount Vernon on Thursday.
“The kids are on a roll,” Squalicum coach Mark Parrish said of his team in a phone interview. “I feel like Mount Vernon is a good team, and we went in there and took the dual from them.”
Micah LeDoux got the Storm started by pinning Devin Estrada in 2 minutes, 8 seconds at 130 pounds, and from there Eric Tuttle won by major decision at 130 and Michael Gonzalez (140) and Levi Johnson (145) won by pin to give the Storm an early 22-0 lead.
Squalicum (7-2) will be at Nooksack Valley this weekend to defend its title at the King of the Valley tournament.
