Evan Schmidt won two events in a meet for the first time this season to help the Sehome boys swimming team defeat Shorecrest 111-72 at Seattle on Wednesday.
“Shorecrest was one of the top teams in the district, so it was nice to come out of the winter break with a win against them,” Sehome coach Don Helling said in a phone interview.
Schmidt won the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 1.06 seconds, the 100 backstroke in 1:01.77 and also teamed up with Colin Flynn, Tyler VanDooren and Brian Parine to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:30.77.
Flynn won the 50 freestyle in 23.25 seconds and also helped the 200 freestyle relay team to a win, and Austin Fish won the 100 breaststroke, with the top three swimmers all finishing within a second of each other. He also helped the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relays to wins.
