PREP GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Squalicum preview

Coach: Scott Wilson

Last season: 9-14, (4-9 NWC) eliminated at the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament

Players to watch: Nicola Follis, (Jr., P), Taylor Ulrich, (So., G), Calial Lyon, (Jr., F), P Diane Dentinger, (Sr. P)

Outlook: The Storm could be the most improved team in the confer-ence this season. Squalicum’s start-ing five is very solid, led by Follis, who is a three-year starter in the post, and speedy guard Sara Prendergast. Dentinger brings toughness and an improved shooting touch. Ulrich, who averaged 7.9 points per game, offers an interesting mix of size and athleticism. The Storm would like defense to be its calling card and that should help them win games. After closing last season out by winning three of its last four regular season games and then upsetting Shorecrest at the district tournament there is a lot to build on.
