Five games to watch

Meridian vs. Nooksack Valley

Dec. 21 at Nooksack Valley

Rematch of last year’s third-place game at state, which the Pioneers won, could decide which team gets the top seed into the Class 1A Northwest District Tournament.

Squalicum vs. Burlington-Edison

Jan. 16 at Burlington

A showdown between two of the top returning scorers from last season pits Squalicum’s Nick Stackhouse (17.2 points per game) vs. Burlington’s Jake Anderson (14.5)

Mount Vernon vs. Squalicum

Feb. 5 at Squalicum

Possibly the top two Class 3A teams in the conference square off in a game that could decide which gets the top seed in the district tournament. Both made it to state last year.

Burlington-Edison vs. Lynden

Feb. 8 at Lynden

Game could decide the conference champion and the top 2A seed in the district tournament, but also matches two of the most talented players in Lynden’s Brady Bomber and Anderson.

Sehome vs. Bellingham

Feb. 8 at Bellingham

Both teams enter the season inexperienced and with first-year coaches. With this one being so late in the season, a win could help either lock up a spot in the district tournament.
