PREP BOYS' BASKETBALL: Sedro-Woolley preview

Coach: John Getzinger

Last year: 1-21 (0-13 NWC), elimi-nated in Class 3A Northwest District tournament.

Key players: Ethan Brown (Sr., G), Taylor Pedroza (Jr., G), David Jan-icki (Jr., G), Levi Stewart (So., G), Cory Colwell (Sr., G/P), Issac Brown (Fr., G/P).

Outlook: The Cubs lost the top scorer off a team that won only one game last season, but return their second and third threats. Ethan Brown averaged 9.8 points per game, and Taylor Pedroza scored 6.1. Janicki also saw some starting time near the end of the season, giving the Cubs three returning starters. Sedro-Woolley will be small this year, but Getzinger said he expects it to shoot well from the outside. Rebounding will be a concern, though. Getzinger said he feels he has the players to make improvement this year after two rough seasons. If the Cubs can do that, they might be able to com-pete for one of three available spots for the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament. Getzinger said reaching that tournament is his team’s No. 1 goal.
