Football playoff game times set

Game times and sites for the first round of the football state playoffs have been set.

In Class 3A, Ferndale will take on Mount Vernon at 7 p.m. on Friday at Civic Stadium. The winner will host the winner of Friday's Nathan Hale-Franklin Pierce contest.

Lynden will travel to Centralia and will take on the Tigers at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Centralia High School. The game is a rematch of last year's Class 2A state championship game at the Tacoma Dome, which the Lions won 14-10 to claim the third state football title in school history.

The winner of Saturday's game will face the winner of the Blaine-Fife game in the quarterfinals. Blaine, which is making its first state appearance since 1998, will play Fife at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Sumner.

Defending Class 1A state champion Meridian will play on Saturday, when the Trojans host Castle Rock in a 6 p.m. first-round game at Civic Stadium.
