UW hoops: 3-star point guard Blake Harris announces commitment to play for Huskies

The Washington Huskies men’s basketball team added a second commitment to its 2017 recruiting class, as 6-foot-3 point guard Blake Harris from Raleigh, North Carolina, used his Twitter page on Monday night to announce a commitment to UW.

Harris plays for Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is considered a 3-star prospect by Scout.com, Rivals.com and 247Sports.com. His offer list includes Iowa State, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Miami and others, according to Scout.com.

UW’s 2017 class is beginning to take shape. Harris joins 6-foot-4 Garfield High guard Jaylen Nowell as committed players for 2017, and the Huskies are also considered a strong favorite to land their top target, 5-star forward Michael Porter Jr., the son of new assistant coach Michael Porter Sr.

Washington might also still be in the running for 4-star Garfield shooting guard Daejon Davis, who committed and then decommitted from UW but has said he is still considering the Huskies.

Here are some video highlights of Harris, who apparently impressed at this week’s Nike EYBL Peach Jam. Harris plays for Chris Paul’s EYBL team.
