In her heptathlon debut, Western Washington University’s Kaylie Greninger placed first with 3,981 points in the seven-event contest that ended Friday, April 3, at the WWU Combined Events Track & Field Meet held at Civic Stadium.
Greninger entering the final day with an advantage of over 500 points and extended that to over 1,000 points with a solid showing in the final three events. She had marks of 15-5 1/2 in the long jump, 100-3 in the javelin and a time of 2:33.01 in the 800 meters.
Placing second with 2,906 points was Brayana Elmore from Olympic CC.
Greninger had the best mark or time in six of the seven events. On Thursday, she ran a 17.14 100 hurdles, cleared 4-9 1/2 in the high jump, tossed the shot put 32-4 3/4 and ran the 200 in 27.42.
