Western Washington University sprinter Alex Donigian has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Track Athlete of the Week for March 22-28.
Donigian, a junior from Mission Viejo, Calif., set school and conference records in the 100 meters with a time of 10.27 seconds in the invitational division of the 88th Annual Texas Relays held at Austin, Texas.
Donigian’s time was the best nationally in NCAA Division II this spring. He broke his own WWU standard (10.46) by nearly two seconds and bettered the GNAC record (10.38, Rimar Christie, Northwest Nazarene) by over one second.
Donigian placed third in his heat and 11th overall in the 17-man field which was made up almost entirely of club professionals and national team runners.
