Western Washington University sprinter Alex Donigian was voted Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field co-Male Athlete of the Year in an announcement made by the conference office on Tuesday, March 24.
Donigian shared the honor with University of Alaska Anchorage heptathlete Cody Thomas. Each received 19 points in balloting of the nine GNAC head coaches.
Donigian placed second in the 60 meters at the NCAA Division II national meet, just .001 separating him from the winner, and received United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association first-team All-America recognition.
Donigian was officially clocked in 6.72 seconds, tying his own school and GNAC records. At the conference meet, he won the 60 (6.82) and finished second in the 200 (21.66). His best 200 time of 21.63 ranks second in GNAC history.
