Western Washington University pitcher Makinlee Sellevold has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 2-8.
It is the second weekly honor of the young season for Sellevold, a freshman from Everett.
Sellevold posted a 4-0 record, improving her record to 8-1, as the Vikings began GNAC play with wins in four of their first six games. She has won her last six decisions.
Among Sellevold’s victories last week was a 5-0 shutout of Central Washington on Sunday. In 32-1/3 innings, she allowed just eight runs, seven earned. Sellevold gave up 30 hits and walked 13, but only 18.6 percent of the runners who reached on a hit or walk ended up scoring.
