Western Washington University fell 11-3 in five innings to Montana State University Billings in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball contest that was completed on Thursday, March 5, at Viking Field on the WWU campus.
The game had been halted after four innings on Wednesday because of darkness with the Yellowjackets leading 11-3 and was called after one more inning this afternoon because of the eight-run mercy rule.
MSUB improved to 9-10 overall and 2-2 in GNAC play. WWU fell to 9-7 overall and 2-2 in conference action,
The Yellowjackets had broken the contest open on Wednesday by scoring 10 runs on 10 hits in the fourth inning.

Emily Osborn drove in three runs with a two-run double and a one-run single. Brittney Sanders had two doubles, driving in two runs with one, and scored two runs; and Aubrey Conceiaco drove in two runs and scored two with a pair of singles.
Osborn, Conceicao, and Cari Gammon each finished with three hits as MSUB had 14 overall.
Pitcher Mary Grace Bywater (2-1) got the win, working the first 3-1/3 innings.
WWU had seven hits, two each by Autumn Isaacson and Kali Patterson.
The Vikings scored twice in the first, Alicia Fine driving in one with a double and Alexie Levin (Jr., Everett) another on a ground out. Isaacson drove in their other run in the fourth with a single.
