Western Washington University track and field junior Travis Milbrandt shattered his school and Great Northwest Athletic Conference records while placing third in the finals of the men’s 60-meter hurdles on Saturday, Feb. 14, in final-day action at the Husky Classic held at Dempsey Indoor on the campus of host University of Washington.
Milbrandt’s time of 8.09 seconds was .11 better than his previous best of 8.20 on Jan. 17 and ranks 15th nationally in NCAA Division II.
“He has good technique and has a chance to go even faster,” said WWU head coach Pee Wee Halsell. “Last year he struggled with a hamstring injury.”
The Vikings will compete in the UW Open on Sunday, Feb. 15 as they prepare for the GNAC Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, at Nampa, Idaho.
