WWU’s Guenther, Richards repeat as USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees

Taylor Guenther was honored for the third time and Nathan Richards for the second time as five Western Washington University runners were among those receiving United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association/NCAA Division II Cross Country All-Academic honors announced Wednesday, Feb. 11.

Guenther, a junior from Vancouver, is a multidisciplinary studies with a 3.86 grade point average, and Richards, a senior from Longview, is a biology/anthropology major with a 3.58 GPA.

Guenther, a Great Northwest Athletic Conference academic all-star for the second time, placed 51st at the NCAA II National Championships and 10th at the GNAC Championships to earn all-star honors. Richards, also a GNAC academic all-star, finished 94th at nationals

Rounding out the WWU honorees were Matt Lutz, a geophysics major with a 3.32 GPA, Sofia Marikis, a kinesiology major with a 3.65 GPA, and Jonathon Quimby, an environmental policy major with a 3.46 GPA.

All three were GNAC academic all-stars. Quimby placed 106th at nationals, Lutz 111th and Marikis 221st.
