WWU 10th after first day at Super San Diego Championship

Western Washington University, making its first appearance of the spring, is 10th after first-day action Monday, Feb. 9, at the Super San Diego Women’s Collegiate Championship being played at the Riverwalk Golf Course.

Tuesday’s final round begins at 7:30 a.m.

The Vikings, who had not played since Oct. 21, shot 334. Cal Baptist leads the 16-team tournament by seven strokes at 14-over par 302.

Tied for second at 309 are Dixie State UT and Academy of Art.

WWU’s Jenn Paul and Brooke Branigan each shot 82. Anna Bourland had an 83, Kristen Hansen 87 and Audrey Orem 88.

The medalist leader at 2-under 70 is Dixie State’s Haley Dunn with teammate Justine Connell second at 1-over 73.

The tourney host is Point Loma Nazarene.
