Western Washington University forward Sydney Donaldson has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 11-17.
Donaldson, a 6-foot senior from Edmonds, had 41 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots and two steals in a pair of home court victories over Western Oregon, 80-64, and Saint Martin’s, 77-53. She shot 72.7 percent (16-of-22) from the field in the two games, making 3-of-5 3-pointers.
Donaldson scored a career-high 24 points and had a season-best 10 rebounds against Western Oregon, and had 17 points versus Saint Martin’s.
This season, Donaldson is averaging 8.6 points on 56.1 percent field-goal accuracy (55 of 98) and 4.9 rebounds.
WWU, 11-5 overall and 5-2 in GNAC play, travels to Alaska this week to meet nationally No.5-ranked Alaska Anchorage on Thursday, Jan. 22 (6:15 p.m.), and Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday, Jan. 24 (6:15 p.m.), in GNAC contests.
