Middle blocker Kayla Erickson had a match-high 17 kills on .654 hitting and libero Samantha Hutchinson contributed a match-high 17 digs as Western Washington University swept Saint Martin’s University, 25-17, 25-9, 25-14, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.
The Vikings, rated No.14 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll, improved to 18-6 overall and 11-4 in GNAC play. They hit a season-high .458 as a team in a match that took just 1:12 to complete.
WWU never trailed in the first two sets, going out to leads of 10-3 and 14-3, respectively. With the third set tied at 4-4, the Vikings closed out the match with a 21-10 run.
Erickson had six kills in the first set, five in the second and six in the third.
