Western Washington University midfielder Kim Cooper has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 26 to Nov. 1.
Cooper, a senior from Bellingham, played a key role as the Vikings posted two shutouts, 2-0 at Northwest Nazarene and 3-0 at Simon Fraser. That upped their season total to 14 whitewashes.
“She (Cooper) was fantastic defending the space between our midfield and defense in two shutout victories on the road,” said WWU head coach Travis Connell.
WWU, unbeaten at 15-0-3, won its third straight GNAC regular-season championship at 11-0-3.
