WWU women’s basketball takes 68-62 exhibition win at UBC

Point guard Jenni White scored a game-high 25 points, lifting Western Washington University to a 68-62 win over University of British Columbia in a women’s basketball exhibition contest Saturday, Nov. 1, in Vancouver, Wash.

White, who connected on 9-of-14 field goals, also had five assists and five rebounds for the Vikings.

WWU led 45-25 at halftime and still held that margin, 48-28, with 6:11 left in the third quarter. The Vikings were ahead by 11 points, 65-54, with two minutes remaining in the game, and the closest UBC got after that was six on two occasions in the final minute.

WWU trailed only once, 6-4, with 6:56 left in the first quarter.

WWU center Kayla Bernsen had 12 points, 10 in the first half, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots; and Tia Briggs had 10 points off the bench.
