Western Washington University had a league-high four players named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Pre-season All-Star team announced Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Picked from the Vikings were 6-foot-7 senior forward Anye Turner, 6-6 sophomore forward Jeffrey Parker, 6-7 sophomore forward Joey Schreiber and 5-10 junior guard Ricardo Maxwell.

Maxwell, who redshirted last year after transferring from Edmonds CC, was the lone newcomer selected to the team. Two years ago, he averaged 20.6 points, 5.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds while earning Northwest Athletic Conference Northern Region all-star honors in leading the Tritons to a 26-4 record and the championship game of the NAC Tournament.

Turner, Parker and Schreiber were all starters last year for WWU, which finished 20-8 overall, placed second in the GNAC regular-season standings at 13-5 and reached the championship game of the GNAC Tournament. Only upsets in the other two West Region conference tournaments kept the Vikings from a chance at winning a third straight West Regional championship.
