All four of Western Washington University’s counting scores were among the top 10 as the Vikings won their first regular-season tournament since 2011, coming back from a four-stroke deficit to win by eight shots at the Dixie State University Women’s Golf Invitational Tournament which ended Tuesday in St. George, Utah.
The Vikings snapped a string of 26 tournaments without a victory by prevailing in the 12-team field. They finished with a round of 301, the best of the tourney, for a 36-hole total of 610. Their last triumph came on Oct. 7-8, 2011, at the Saint Martin’s Invitational.
Point Loma placed second at 618 (313), followed by host Dixie State at 625 (317) and Academy of Art at 634 (326).
Audrey Orem led WWU as she tied for third in medalist play at 5-over par 151 (79). She opened the tourney Monday with a 1-under 72, the best round of her two-year collegiate career.

Three Vikings shot 74 on Tuesday. Kristen Hansen and Jenn Paul tied for fifth at 152, and Brooke Branigan tied for ninth at 155.
