Western Washington University midfielder Luke Olney has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 5-11.
Olney, a freshman from Enumclaw (graduate of Enumclaw High School), had an assist on a game-tying goal and then scored the game winner with five seconds left in overtime as the Vikings rallied to defeat South Dakota Mines 2-1 and sweep a two-game road trip. They also won 2-1 at University of Mary.
That tied Olney for team scoring honors with seven points. He has scored two goals and has a team-high three assists.
WWU, which has won three straight games, is 5-5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in conference action.
