Western Washington University All-America runner Katelyn Steen placed eighth in the featured invitational women’s race Saturday, Sept. 20, at the 23rd Annual University of Washington Sundodger Cross Country Invitational held at Lincoln Park.
Steen was clocked in 21 minutes, 12 seconds over the six-kilometer course. Host Washington’s Maddie Meyers won the event in 20:21.
“She did a great job, especially with this being her first race of the season,” said WWU coach Pee Wee Halsell said in a press release. “She got a little tired in the last kilometer, but still had a good sprint at the end. … She was very happy with her performance.”
Last year, Steen earned All-America honors by placing 34th at the NCAA Division II National Championships.
