The Whatcom Community College men’s basketball team suffered a 76-67 loss to Bellevue College on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Meridian High School.

Mikeal Anderson had 16 points, Dreu Vader added 14 points and Casey Leek pulled down 13 rebounds for the Orcas.

WCC coach David Dunham said poor shooting (23 of 58) from the field for the Orcas, hot shooting by Bellevue (10 3-pointers) and missed opportunities on second-chance shots by Whatcom were just too much to overcome.

“We just didn’t score when we needed to score in those extra opportunities,” Dunham said in a phone interview. “Just little things that lead to a nine-point loss. We’re a young team and those things are going to happen to a young team.”
