Whatcom Community College’s volleyball team bit off more than it could chew in a 25-14, 25-13, 25-20 loss to Bellevue on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at WCC.
The Orcas were led by Kortney Grattic (six kills, one ace) and Grace Bills (four kills, one block).
“Bellevue runs a really fast offense,” WCC coach Angie Short said in a phone interview. “They control the ball very well and we had trouble getting them out of rhythm.”
The Orcas face Edmonds on Friday night, Sept. 26, on the road and Short knows they must improve.

“It’s a good opportunity for the girls to see where they need to be and what areas they need to improve on,” Short said of facing off against the tough Bellevue team Wednesday. “After taking time look at the video, we’re going to hit the gym tomorrow and work on transition. We need to be smarter with shots.”
