Western Washington University middle blocker Emily Jepsen has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball co-Player of the Week for Aug. 29-Sept. 6.
Jepsen, a junior from Kennewick where she graduated from Kamiakin High School, led the Vikings to a 3-1 record at the GNAC Challenge Tournament, two of the wins coming over top 10 nationally ranked teams.
The 5-foot-11 Jepsen had 40 kills, 17 blocks and seven service aces and hit for a .274 percentage. She accounted for a team-best 57-1/2 points and was selected to the all-tournament team.
Jepsen shared the weekly honor with Seattle Pacific outside hitter Lindsey Wodrich.

Western goalkeeper Jamie Arthurs has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer co-Player of the Week.
Arthurs, a sophomore from Richland, had 17 saves, including 10 in a 2-1 overtime win at Chico State. She added five more in a scoreless overtime tie with San Francisco State and two in a 1-0 shutout of Humboldt State.
Arthurs finished the opening week of the season with a 0.29 goals against average and a .944 save percentage.
“Jamie continually made the big save we needed at crucial times,” said Western coach Travis Connell.
Arthurs shared the weekly honor with Montana State Billings forward Samantha Sandau.
Western, 2-0-1, entertains Pacific Lutheran on Saturday (12 noon) at Orca Field on the Whatcom CC campus.
