Concerned candidate is not kind to others

In the wake of what is happening today I am struck that a nasty, egoistic, narcissistic person who is running for president is trying to convince the American people to hate and fear our neighbors. All prophets, from time immemorial, have taught us the basic lesson to “love your neighbor.” However, I believe even so-called Christians are encouraging this hatred among our neighbors.

Every time I read some speech or comment from the unmentionable person, I am astounded that he gains in popularity. What has happened to our country? What has happened to the people of our country? I am an older person and never in my life have I seen anything like this thing happening. I have a sister who thought this unmentionable person was speaking for her until I suggested that most people in our country and especially my family are kind people. We are people who want to make new friends and don’t shy away from learning something about others who are different. We are American. I believe this unmentionable man is not kind; he is mean and shares his hatred of many things urging us all to hate as well.

I have this to say: Never will any person convince me to hate and fear my neighbor. As a child, I was raised on Jesus’ teachings and I learned to “love my neighbor.” As an adult it is reinforced by the Coast Salish Teachings to “walk beside and hold your neighbor’s hand.” That’s how I live my life. What about you?
