In reference to the “Elect Barry Cruzwater” political cartoon: In 1964 I voted for Barry Goldwater for president. Our troop involvement in Vietnam was less than 50,000, most of whom were special forces advisors – a program initiated by the previous president, Democrat John F. Kennedy. I was chided by those few liberals in San Francisco who spoke to me that – if I voted for Goldwater – our nation would become embroiled in a land war with 500,000 troops in Vietnam. Sure enough, I voted for Barry Goldwater, and in two years we had 500,000 soldiers in Vietnam.
Sometimes even liberals get it right, just like a stopped clock. If you wish to attack Senator Cruz, attack his positions, not the deceased Honorable Barry Goldwater.
