Says public health must be maintained

My rights! Why is it that we never hear the word responsibilities? The article “Acceptable Risk,” March 8, 2015, prompted this letter.

Parent and children who have been vaccinated have rights too. Children who cannot be vaccinated due to medical conditions are especially at risk to exposure of preventable diseases.

The Bellingham School District should sit down with local health officials and look at the risks involved and come up with a plan to minimize mass exposures.

Having non-vaccinated kids bussed to specific schools, while vaccinated and health imperiled kids go to others, might be the simplest solution. Parents who don’t vaccinate and object can have the option of home schooling or sending their kids to private schools.

Time to get a grip, public health takes precedence over political correctness.
