Unhappy with women legislators’ war records

I have heard that we need more women in congress but what I believe we really need is more humanitarians, regardless of sex. Of the Congress members that represent the state of Washington and Whatcom County there are three women: Marie Cantwell, Patty Murray and Suzan DelBene.

In looking at their stand on supporting wars and arms I cannot call them doves or see in any way that their being of the female sex has influenced their vote to make a better society.

The female peacemakers who came before us long years ago, made supreme sacrifices and were imprisoned and socially ostracized to get the vote for women would no doubt be shocked and disappointed to see that the female politicians of today are no different than the men.

We women of heart today can answer the call “Appeal to womanhood throughout the world” that was put out over a century ago. “Arise then, women of this day! Arise, all women who have hearts!” “We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies.” We women of today know how to answer this call because we do have the vote.
