Says Churchill bust removal story untrue

I must correct a misapprehension stated in a letter to the editor published Jan. 26. The letter writer claimed that the White House returned the Epstein sculpture bust of Winston Churchill to England. That is not the case. The bust of Churchill was merely removed from the Oval Office and placed in the Treaty Room area; the Oval Office now has a bust of Lincoln.

A bust of Churchill on loan during the Bush 43 presidency was returned, according to the New York Times, but there is still the bust of Churchill in the White House.

This story goes back to 2009 and 2012 and has been floating around in one form or another ever since. It’s sad that we don’t check on the facts before making statements.
