Finds crimimal justice system lacking

Page A3 of the Jan. 4 edition of The Bellingham Herald tells us our police department captures a man who had thrown furniture through the window of a 72-year-old woman’s house to break in, punched her in the back so hard she felt as if she were stabbed, threatened her with a knife and destroyed the interior of her home. When he appears before the judge, the best our criminal justice system can apply to this guy is a bail so low he can pay it and get out of jail with an admonishment from the court to stay away from the victim. Really? This kind of justice will keep our community safe? As a senior citizen of this city I am appalled and frightened.
